The band’s fourth studio album, recorded at The Blasting Room in Fort Collins, CO by punk rock legend Bill Stevenson (Descendents, Black Flag) and mixed by Jason Livermore (Teenage Bottlerocket), is an unapologetically political punk record. While the title of lead single “Relentless” could easily refer to The Drowns’ infamously non-stop touring regimen, it refers instead to something far more humanitarian: the crushing weight of capitalism on the working poor. The song acknowledges the toll it takes on one’s mental health, struggling day in & day out with no breaks only to be left farther & farther behind. “I wish life would just give it a rest,” laments singer-guitarist Rev Peters.
This is life-affirming music for hard times, made for everyone that could sorely use it right now, and a record poised to give the band’s hard-earned position as a fan-favorite in the global punk scene an even greater trajectory.
