The Ratchets – “Hurricane Condition” Digital Single & Video Out Now; Latest from the Band’s New Singles Campaign

One of the original Pirates Press Records bands, New Jersey punk stalwarts The Ratchets are celebrating their twenty year anniversary as a band with a multi-year campaign of new non-album singles. After kicking things off with “Street Manners” and the follow up “Swagger With Kindness,” the band now mark Flag Day with the release of “Hurricane Condition,” which is available on all streaming platforms, alongside a stark & evocative music video.

“Hurricane Condition” is a quasi-funk marvel; spacey and mechanical, fluid and scratchy. A post-punk torch song; it stars a narrator who is staring down a literal and figurative storm. Bone-simple riffs over a rubbery baseline and spidery beat, the song is all pocket. Written in a land where everything dances – through pelting rain and gusts of wind, the groove catches as you and the band gaze into the hurricane. Gonna be a washout tonight.

As with their previous singles, fans will be treated to a dub-inspired remix of the single, entitled “Washout Party” by Strawberry Zaiquiri.
