It seems like every week there is a news report about a school shooting in America. It’s a sad reality we have to deal with, especially because the biggest victims both directly and indirectly are innocent children.

Territories crafted this infectious tune “The Lockdown” aimed at creating more public dialogue about “lockdowns” (active shooter drills) at schools. These drills have changed the landscape of education, and unquestionably put children in a position of having to imagine that “worst case scenario,” often at a very early age. Parents, teachers, and students are all speaking out about the effects these drills have, putting into question whether they are in fact doing more harm than good, and whether society is investing resources in the right places. The song asks, “should we not be doing more to control the sources of gun violence?” The goal of this song is to help students, teachers, parents, and administrators initiate that dialogue, deciding for themselves (as a community) the best ways to keep their streets and hallways safe from gun violence.

To help this incredible band achieve their goals, Pirates Press Records will release this song digitally and on a picture flexi (vinyl record), broadcasting this message as far and wide as possible… but we cannot do it alone.
